La Caverne du Pont Neuf, An Immersive Experience
Paris, May 27, 2026
French artist JR has wrapped Paris’ oldest bridge, Le Pont Neuf, transforming it into La Caverne du Pont Neuf, a monumental immersive installation measuring 120 meters long and 18 meters high.
The project required two years of craftsmanship and the work of 800 people, including the team at Air Toiles Concept.
Let’s come together through art

La Caverne du Pont Neuf has stirred controversy, which I find difficult to understand. We finally have a monumental work of real art, created by human hands, built in the real world, meant to be experienced with our bodies and our senses.
In an era when so many hide behind screens and AI simulations, we should be celebrating JR’s creation.
JR transforms the public spaces most people rush past without noticing walls, rooftops, entire façades.
“My vision for this project is inspired by both the past and the present of this iconic bridge. I admire the artistic legacy of Christo and Jeanne-Claude and share their belief that art’s mission is to make us think, to make us question what is familiar to us. The debate that a project in public space sparks has equal value to its realization.” — JR
Walking along the Seine
The photos in the video follow the exact order of my walk along the Seine.
It was extremely hot that day, and I could barely see anything because of the sun reflecting on my phone. It wasn’t easy… and carrying a purse definitely didn’t help.
La Caverne du Pont Neuf opened June 15, 2026, for 2 weeks
Inside, the world shifts. Everything is arranged so you forget you are crossing a bridge at all. JR imagined La Caverne du Pont Neuf as “a move toward the unknown, a journey in itself, an experience where fullness and emptiness live in balance.”
Thomas Bangalter (ex‑Daft Punk) extends that vision with an electro‑acoustic breath that seems to turn the interior to stone. As an acoustic visual artist, he drapes La Caverne du Pont Neuf in a sonic veil — sound that hovers just beyond music. From a conceptual, almost ascetic place, he shapes a texture that feels both close to the skin and vast as an echo, perfectly aligned with the spirit of the work.
The installation was scheduled to open June 6, 2026, for a two‑week run. Unfortunately, on June 2nd, heavy winds and rain damaged part of the structure. Repairs are underway, and the opening will be announced soon.
Visitors will be able to walk through the 15‑minute experience, free and open to all, day and night – no booking required.
