Parasailing on Catalina Island, CA

By Sophie Gayot

Parasailing in Catalina Island is one of a spectacular way to see the Pacific — you lift off from the boat, rise 600–1,000 feet over the harbor, and float above the island’s cliffs, coves, and emerald water.

The best way to get to Catalina Island, located 22 miles of the coast of Los Angeles, is to hop on one of Catalina Express’s vessels, from San Pedro, Long Beach or Dana Point.

There are many things to do once you arrive. If you are not afraid of heights, try parasailing. You will enjoy great views of the island and the ocean, as well as peace and quiet.

Get a sneak peek with the video above that I filmed with some difficulty. I was not wearing a helmet with a built-in GoPro camera, but rather holding my camera in my hand while I sailed!

Three reputable operators run flights directly from Avalon, all within a short walk of the ferry terminal.
